Furthermore, the Council seeks to foster an environment that is welcoming and inclusive of refugees. The Council understands that these goals are best met through the concerted and coordinated efforts of its Members. Activities In order to fulfil its mission, the Council engages in Policy Papers on key themes, Press Statements and other public interventions, and Advocacy Meetings with Stakeholders. Membership Membership in the Council is open to any non-governmental organisation, including informal group of persons, established and based in Malta for at least two years, with a primary focus on the promotion of refugee rights and that subscribes to the Council’s Code of Conduct. Requests from organisations to become Council Members shall be sent to the Council to maltarefugeecouncil@gmail.com for them to be evaluated and decided upon by all Members. The Council will notify the applicant organisation of its decision.For the purposes of the Council, the term ‘refugee’ includes all forced migrants that engaged with an asylum procedure.
