‘Building Communities Together’
World Refugee Day Conference

20 June, 12.30 - 17.30

The Malta Society of Arts, Valletta

The Malta Refugee Council is proud to launch its

World Refugee Day Conference: 'Building Communities Together’.

The culmination of months of building synergies within the Malta Refugee Council, the Conference will invite participants to jointly pave the way for more welcoming and embracing communities.

Our discussions will delve into a myriad of pertinent topics: from experiences of young refugees to the diverse experiences of those grappling with mental health issues and disabilities. We will also explore refugee political engagement as a key tool towards inclusive dialogue and representative communities.

We will be hosting 2 workshops during the conference, focusing on two key aspects of community-building: Diverse Communities and Politically Active Communities.

The first workshop will explore the diversity within refugee communities, and what this means in terms of various needs, strengths and human experiences. The second workshop will discuss approaches towards strengthening the political relevance of refugees, such as through civic empowerment, representation, and electoral participation.

‘Building Communities Together’ is proud to join the lineup of the Refugee Week Festival 2024, with ‘Home’ as this year’s theme.

Our conference will be hosted in one of Malta's oldest cultural institutions, a historical gem nestled in the heart of Valletta. Amidst the timeless surroundings, our informal talks will unfold in a charming inner courtyard, providing the perfect backdrop for fruitful exchanges, all accompanied by light refreshments.

Keep an eye out for the full program details, and be sure to reserve your spot.

Participation is free and open to all who share our vision and wish to contribute.

Let's build communities together!
