Il-Qlubija tar-Rifuġjati

A Malta Refugee Council Conference on Refugee Courage

World Refugee Day

20 June, 12.00 - 18.00 | St. Albert School’s Hall, Valletta

For the third consecutive year, we are proud to host a landmark discussion for World Refugee Day. This year’s theme, ‘Qlubija’ (Courage), acts as a vital bridge from our previous focus on survival to a new focus on resilience and living.

We believe in acknowledging the trauma of the past while engaging speakers as active agents of change. Our conference will split the afternoon into two distinct but connected explorations of braver.

The setting is informal: discussions personal and insightful.

Conversation 1: The Courage to Begin Again (Individual)

Focused on the aftermath of arrival, this conversation will highlights the unseen courage of healing, pursuing education, and navigating the labor market.

It’s about the bravery required to be more than a statistic.

Conversation 2: The Courage to Stand Together (Civic)

In a polarized climate, standing up for human rights is an act of bravery. We will hear from community leaders, journalists, and policymakers who are showing ‘qlubija’ by challenging the status quo and fostering inclusion.

Help us bridge the gap between ‘us’ and ‘them’.
We invite all stakeholders, community members, and advocates to join this essential dialogue
as we move toward a future built on solidarity, not just charity.

The conference will open with a light lunch and include a refreshments break.

The Conference forms part of Refugee Week Malta 2026 festival, supported by Arts Council Malta.
