We’re looking for a Project Officer!
The Malta Refugee Council (MRC) has just embarked on a project that will strengthen its capacity and visibility. With the support of the US Embassy in Malta, the MRC will organise training sessions for its members covering key aspects of Malta’s asylum regime.
We will also launch a national campaign, and, for World Refugee Day 2024, a human rights conference will be held. The project starts in September 2023 and runs till August 2024.

What will the Project Officer do?
These are the main tasks to be carried out, as part of the project team:
- Support the organisation of 4 training activities, meaning taking care of the logistics, registration, evaluations, note-taking, summary reports;
- Support the organisation of the human rights conference: venue, registrations, logistics, key-note speaker, evaluation, note-taking;
- Coordinate activities on the national campaign: liaison with the campaign designer, communication with the MRC members, campaign logistics;
- Attend MRC meetings on a regular basis.
Who do we want?
Our Project Officer is someone who:
- Has an understanding of Malta’s asylum context;
- Speaks, reads and writes well in English;
- Is energetic, can work independently and loves the NGO environment;
- Agrees with the values and principles of the Malta Refugee Council, as explained in this Code of Conduct;
- Has in the necessary permit or employment licence to work in Malta;
- Has a VAT number or will obtain a VAT number if engaged.
What are we offering?
- The Project Officer will sign a services contract with MRC member, aditus foundation. This is not an employment contract, but an agreement for the provision of specific project services. The option of part-time employment will also be considered, if more convenient for us and the selected candidate.
- We would like the Project Officer to commence work as of 1 October 2023.
- The contract will extend for the duration of the project (11 months), for a total sum of $2,500 (approximately €2,325).
- The Project Officer will be required to dedicate around 8 hours a month to the project, on a timetable to be agreed on at the beginning of the contract period.
- These 8 hours should be performed in the Ħamrun office of aditus foundation, with the possibility of also working from the offices of other MRC NGOs.
- Administrative support will be provided, including a laptop to work on.
